SEO for Images

SEO Images

When optimizing your website to perform better in search engine results, do
not overlook or neglect the images on your website. Graphics play an
important role in web design, and they can also influence organic search
rankings. Take care to make your website graphics search-friendly. Here are
some tips for better image optimization...

Image Compression

Compress the website images using graphics software. A graphics-heavy
website will be slow to load, so stick to smaller high-quality images. You
only have a few moments to make an impression on a website visitor, and a
slow-loading website may cause visitors to click away.

Proper Size

Make sure the image is sized appropriately for its position on the webpage.
If the visitor's web browser needs to re-size the image each time the image
or page is viewed, it will take additional load time.

Name Graphics

Use keywords in the naming of the graphic files. The filename should contain
keywords related to the image and website. If you are using multiple words
in the filename, hyphenate the words in the image filename. For example:
domain.com/graphic/keyword-phrase.png

Alt Tags

Be sure to use "alt tags" in the HTML code to describe the image. It is
recommended that the alt tags contain keywords or phrases that relate both
to what the image represents as well as to the content of the web page.

Do Not Lose Control

It is very important that you host all images on your own website. If you
link to an image on another website, it not only makes the image load time
dependent on their bandwidth speed, but it also gives them control over your
website! For example, if they decide to change that image, but keep the same
filename, you could end up displaying something on your site that is
completely different than the original image you wanted (and possibly
something you would rather not have your website associated with!).

Create An Image Sub-Directory

While not directly related to search engine optimization, it is recommended
that all website images be kept in a separate folder. This simply makes
management of the website easier.

Title Tags

In addition to alt tags, images can contain "titles". The image title
appears in most browsers when the mouse is on the image. It is important
that the title relate to what the image represents.

When optimizing a website for search engines, take a few extra moments to
optimize the images too.

Where can QR Codes be placed?

Where can QR Codes be placed? The answer to this is almost anywhere! QR Code printing can be done in newspapers, magazines, brochures, leaflets and on business cards. Further to this they can be put on product packaging or labels, or on billboards or even walls. You could even tattoo a QR Code on your body - now that would be an interesting take on giving a girl/guy your number in a bar! You can use QR Codes on a website but they should not generally be used as a substitute for an old-fashioned hyperlink because obviously the user is already online and doesn't really want to fiddle around with their phone only to find a website they could have just clicked through to in half the time. What Is Internet Website Content?

What Is Internet Website Content? Content is made up of multiple elements, and is primarily the; * On-page visible text * Images and image Alt text * Anchor text in hyperlinks to internal or external pages * Hyperlink titles in links and menus * The descriptive Title and Description meta-data In the context of Google, a picture is NOT worth a thousand words! Moreover, words must be accessible, not embedded in images or Flash movies, JavaScript, slide shows etc. In 15 years as an SEO consultant, if there's one common denominator evident on websites, it's that there is a profound reluctance to expend time, money, and creative energy on unique text content. Brevity is the watchword - economical use of words is encouraged by design, branding and marketing advisers! * The branding gurus want you to use the textual equivalent of sound bites - bullet points and short sentences! * The website designers want the entire content of the page to be above ...

Get More Visitors to Take an action When visiting your Website

When you start out in the blogosphere, there are two words that you hear over and over again. 1. Content - Because let's face it, if you're not writing anything, your blog is going to be pretty lonesome 2. Traffic - The rationale being that if no one is visiting your content, you can't do much, including make money I'd like to toss something out there though that not a lot of people seem to talk about, and that's quality in your content and in your traffic. You see, if you are blogging for any particular reason, whether it's to build your brand or to fill your wallet, you need to build a community of people who will actually support your content, click on your affiliate links, and buy your very first e-book. Right? The two modes of blogging Now, there are two ways that people strive for that goal. The more predominant way is to play the blogging game as if you were a commercial fisherman. The commercial fisherman uses gigantic nets, and ...
